Inside Emily Ratajkowski’s New ’70s-Inspired SoHo Office | Architectural Digest

Emily Ratajkowski is starting fresh. The model founded a swimwear line, Inamorata, in 2017 along with her friend Kat Mendenhall. Since then, the brand has expanded to include clothing as well, and six months ago, the company moved into a brand new office in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood.

Ratajkowski teamed up with CB2 to decorate the loft-like space, which features floor-to-ceiling windows and wood floors. “We sent them a mood board of my home and said we want something like this, but a little bit more of a 1970s style,” the My Body author says, explaining that the disco decade inspires her clothing and swimsuit designs. “I didn’t want it to feel like a typical corporate office. It’s definitely a space that we want to feel inviting and social when people come over.”

What might one find on a mood board inspired by Ratajkowski’s home? “I’m not afraid of colors,” she admits, but she does have opinions on them. Millennial pink is out in her book. Fun, unexpected combinations are in. “I love green and pink [together]. I love doing bright orange with cool tones,” she says. The fuchsia and darker pink elements in the office’s rugs aren’t quite what she’d pick for her own home, but their vintage look “works for the brand,” she says. 

Currently, Ratajkowski, who is the mother of a one-year-old boy named Sly, is in the process of decorating a brand new West Village apartment after putting her midcentury-style Los Angeles pad on the market earlier this year. (The move comes amid her divorce from her husband of four and a half years, Sebastian Bear-McClard.) “The living room I’m putting together right now in my new apartment is very, very cool-toned. It’s all greens and blues,” she says.

Ratajkowski is also a fan of sculptural statement furniture, something CB2 delivered for the office space in the form of a central seating area with two shapely sofas. This provides a space for the team to work collaboratively—and to create content with a cute backdrop, something that was important for an online business (the brand is expanding to retailers soon) operated by a social media superstar with 29.5 million followers.
