Named after the city of Berne, the Berne sofa is part of BoConcept's 70th anniversary introductions.

HERNING, Denmark —As part of its yearly introductions and to celebrate its founding seventy years ago in 1952, BoConcept will be releasing its latest collection on September 1st.

“This year is our 70th anniversary. Our collection reflects our values- the heritage, craftsmanship, quality and unique Danish design. All the pieces are very special to us and tell a story about who we and what we value, it is very close to our hearts,” said global visual merchandising manager Kalina Todorova.

BoConcept is releasing new sofas, accent chairs, a cabinet, home office furniture, dining tables and chairs.

“With every product there is a life cycle based on how well they are perceived by our consumers. Very often we upgrade our designs and one of our new intros is an existing design with an improved look, and additional finishes,” said Todorova, who noted, “The Princeton dining chair was a big success. So, we’re launching a Princeton lounge chair. True to all of our designs, the Princeton collection is available in all of our fabrics.”

According to the company, some products are available for immediate delivery, depending on the store. BoConcept stores are a franchise-base with local warehousing and every showroom can find products for customers. For custom upholstery, the delivery time is approximately 6 to 12 weeks.

BoConcept sources most of its product in Denmark in the company’s own factories but because it’s a global brand in 65 countries around the world, there are production facilities in Lithuania and China as well to help serve different markets. The company is mainly focused on residential customers, but it also has a selection of commercial customers, according to Todorova.

“We have a great relationship with the designers we work with. They are an international group, and most have worked with us for the last 10 years. I think the designers that we work with understand the DNA of BoConcept in terms of who we are and what we value,” added Todorova.

BoConcept’s products are based on multiple functions in the home. Sofas come in modular configurations and can be customized to fit in any space, from a small apartment to a large home. “With 130 different material options for upholstery, our consumers can select the material/colors and different styles with legs and armrests that they want. Our customers range from renters to empty nesters,” said Todorova.

BoConcept is known for its selection of extendable dining tables available in different finishes that have a minimal design aesthetic. With integrated extension leaves, the tables are easy to extend. According to Todorova, ceramic is one of the most popular materials in the last 4 years, offering durability, design and colors. The company’s dining chairs are also customizable with different upholstery, bases and arm rests.

Todorova noted that for the last couple of years, upholstery tonality is moving toward more muted beige tones and earthy tones like greens and blues in a soothing color palette. Along with tactile materials, boucle is the “in” fabric now and BoConcept is offering an even heavier boucle for the autumn on select products.

As global visual merchandising manager, Todorova guarantees that all of the BoConcept showrooms fully represent the brand and what it offers in terms of collections and designs. “We create plug-in ready merchandising designs and consistency is really important for us.” However, that doesn’t preclude the individual showrooms from following local trends. “We make sure that within our solutions there are possibility for local design slants as well,” said Todorova.
